Change will happen no matter which candidate is elected. The question I asked myself is, "What Spirit of change do I feel more comfortable with?"
No matter which candidate is elected--the world, not just Americans will have adjustments to make.
I set my clock for 5:00AM. I wanted to be at my polling place, Harrison County Community Center in time to see first voters arriving. Long Beach and Pass Christian both voted at the same place. We were separated into two distinct lines.
It was a beautiful morning with a light chill to the air. Some voters brought their children with them. Many were friendly, some jovial. Small talk abounded. We all have a lot in common.
I did not hear anyone mention a candidate's name. I did hear agreement that no matter what happens, "change" will occur. I am sure we share concern over what kinds of changes it will be.
My Pastors encouraged the congregation to get out and vote. First, they strongly urge praying for and supporting President Bush. His work is not finished. He still has opportunity to accomplish good things and more positively set things up for the next administration.
Then, showing photos of both Senator Obama and Senator McCain, he said, "One of these men will win the election. We must vow to pray for the elected." I vow to do so.
I voted the McCain/Palin ticket. I simply had a higher trust factor for Senator McCain. Governor Palin would have been my choice over Senator Biden, if they were voted for independently. Gender and race had nothing to do with my decisions. Each ticket will have plenty of advisers. We do not have a Monarchy, "yet".
Whoever wins the election, I doubt will be able to accomplish anything near the campaign ideology. I believe Providence Rules no matter what.
If your candidate of choice win, or, does not win--I hope you will join me in choosing to have a positive outlook, and praying for our Government, if you are a praying kind of person. Be grateful for what we have. Stand firm in any case, not to let our Rights as American Citizens slowly slip away.
God Grant us all Discernment and Wisdom; I pray that a Spirit of Peace and Discernment Rules.
